Norwich

Norwich CastleNorwich, a medieval city with a wealth of history. You'll find enthralling museums, a superb cathedral, an imposing Norman castle dominating the skyline, the Norwich Lanes, cobbled streets with ancient half-timbered houses along with ancient pubs. The most famous medieval street in the city of Norwich is Elm Hill, which you could reach by taking a boat from Norwich railway station along the river. Here you'll find quaint shops and galleries and even the little Bear Shop. Norwich is not just about Elm Hill, it has other historic streets such as Pottergate and Timber Hill which feature their own old buildings and unusual shops.

It was once said that Norwich could once boast a pub for every day of the year and a church for every week. While it is no longer the case, there are still over 30 medieval churches within the old city walls alone and, as for pubs, there may not be 365 any more, but there are certainly enough to keep you entertained and to ensure you do not go thirsty!
